Ant Group’s AI health app AQ reaches 150 million users

Ant Group’s AI-powered health app AQ has reached 150 million users, eight months after the company reported that its user base had passed 100 million.

Zhang Junjie, vice president of Ant Group and head of its health business, announced the latest figure at the 2026 INCLUSION · Conference on the Bund in Shanghai. According to the company, AQ now handles nearly 20 million health-related enquiries each day.

The latest figures represent 50% growth in AQ’s reported user base since February, as Ant Group expands the platform beyond AI-enabled medical services into broader health and wellness management.

Launched in June 2025, AQ provides services including doctor recommendations, hospital appointment booking and online consultations. The platform is now expanding its focus to five areas of everyday health management: weight, exercise, nutrition, sleep and mental wellbeing.

Ant Group said AQ will add a dedicated Health section to its homepage, where users will be able to access health management services and information and connect devices such as smartwatches and fitness bands.

The platform can analyse more than 10 health indicators, including weight and sleep, and provide users with health assessments, personalised analysis and recommendations. It can also use previous interactions to generate follow-up reminders based on changes in users’ habits.

For example, AQ may identify fluctuations in sleep duration or lower protein intake over a period of time and provide suggestions based on those patterns. The company has also introduced AI-powered features including AI Food Scan for calorie tracking, AI Vitality Management and an AI weight management coach.

“People often know what they should do to manage their health, but find it difficult to put that knowledge into practice,” Zhang said. He added that AQ was intended to combine AI capabilities with Ant Group’s partner ecosystem to provide more personalised health management.

Ant Group is also developing partnerships with companies in areas including smart hardware, food, sports and nutrition as it expands AQ’s health management capabilities.

Weight management has been one of the platform’s specific areas of focus. In June, Ant Group launched a nationwide initiative encouraging AQ users in China to collectively lose 100 million jin, equivalent to 50 million kilograms, through what the company described as science-based and sustainable weight management.

As of September, 2.75 million people had participated in the initiative, with participants collectively reporting more than 2.5 million kilograms of weight loss, according to Ant Group.

The expansion comes as health remains a growing priority among Chinese consumers. Accenture’s China Consumer Insights report, published in November 2025, found that the proportion of Chinese consumers identifying health as a priority had risen from 78% in 2021 to 87% in 2025.
