PureHealth launches AI system to process Daman insurance documents

PureHealth has launched an artificial intelligence system to automate document processing for UAE health insurer Daman, with the technology expected to handle more than 60 million documents a year.

According to PureHealth, the system will convert more than 80% of documents into structured digital data and reduce processing times from days to minutes. The company also said manual rework could fall by more than 50%.

The system is being developed by PureCS, a PureHealth subsidiary providing cloud and technology services. It uses large language models, automated document classification and structured data extraction to process policy applications and integrate information into Daman’s existing workflows.

The technology is intended to support processes including enrolments, policy endorsements and claims. It will also identify missing or incomplete information when documents are submitted, which PureHealth said could reduce errors and the need for follow-up with policyholders and healthcare providers.

PureHealth said the system will initially process more than 60 million documents annually for Daman, which serves more than three million members in the UAE. The company said the technology could subsequently be expanded to areas including claims and prior authorisation processing.

“Artificial intelligence is reshaping healthcare and financing is a critical part of that shift,” said Shaista Asif, Group CEO of PureHealth. She said the system would introduce digital intelligence into insurance operations and support healthcare providers and patients.

Khaled Ateeq Aldhaheri, CEO of Daman, said automating document processing was intended to reduce errors and turnaround times for members and healthcare providers.

PureHealth said the system combines proprietary technology developed for Daman with other AI capabilities, with a focus on scalability and security. The company described the launch as part of its wider digital transformation programme.
