Singapore rolls out sector-wide agentic AI platform for public healthcare staff

All healthcare professionals across Singapore’s public healthcare sector can now create, use and share personalised AI agents through Synapxe AgentSea, a new sector-wide agentic AI platform. Using natural language, staff can build and customise AI agents to support daily tasks with little to no technical expertise required, according to Synapxe. Use cases cited include clinical record summarisation, procurement reviews, roster generation and general productivity tasks.

The platform was announced by Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Digital Development and Information and the Ministry of Health, at the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition APAC, held at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

AgentSea builds on earlier national AI platforms including HEALIX, Synapxe Tandem and AimSG, which Synapxe positions as part of a broader strategy to support responsible AI adoption, workforce productivity and patient care delivery across public healthcare.

Synapxe reports that more than 12,000 AI agents have been created on the platform since its introduction just over two months ago, with over 300 made shareable across teams and institutions. Among the use cases highlighted, Assistant Professor Kenneth Michael Chew, a consultant cardiologist at the National Heart Centre Singapore, built an agent to support pre-clerking and preparation for complex patient consultations, drawing on patient histories and clinical records. He said the tool has made his preparation more efficient without replacing his own clinical assessment or the need for verification.

Synapxe is also working with users on more complex enterprise-level agents, including tools to automate HR data-change requests and to support clinical operations teams with report preparation, surgical-round summaries and medication calculations.

Healthcare staff will have access to training workshops, learning resources and collaboration challenges intended to build familiarity with AI agents, Synapxe said. The platform was co-developed with Amazon Web Services and is designed to operate within Singapore’s national agentic AI governance standards, incorporating access controls, audit logging and monitoring, and data protection safeguards intended to keep sensitive information from being shared externally.

Andy Ta, Chief Data Officer and Director of Data, AI & Innovation at Synapxe, described the platform as part of the organisation’s efforts to enable AI capabilities responsibly while freeing up staff time for patient care, collaboration and other areas of clinical expertise.
