King’s College Hospital Jeddah to become first EMEA hospital live on InterSystems IntelliCare

King’s College Hospital London – Jeddah (King’s Jeddah) has signed an agreement with InterSystems to adopt IntelliCare™, the vendor’s next-generation electronic health record platform, making it the first hospital in the EMEA region to go live with the system. The move builds on the hospital’s existing use of InterSystems’ TrakCare platform and marks the next phase of its digital transformation.

King’s Jeddah was established in 2025 as an extension of King’s College Hospital London, a teaching hospital founded in 1840. The Jeddah facility operates under the same UK clinical protocols and academic oversight as its London counterpart, with more than 130 specialist consultants across 35 clinical specialties and 10 centres of excellence.

IntelliCare is built on the foundation of TrakCare but embeds AI directly into clinical workflows, including documentation, ordering, clinical decision support and patient communication. Features include ambient clinical documentation, which uses AI-powered listening to convert clinical discussions into structured records, and built-in workflow intelligence designed to reduce reliance on separate bolt-on AI tools. The platform also supports HL7® FHIR® and SMART on FHIR interoperability standards.

Dr Ibrahim Alharfi, Chief Executive Officer of King’s Jeddah, said technology was not the end goal, framing the shift as one focused on reducing avoidable delays and keeping clinicians focused on patients. Diaa Kamal, the hospital’s Chief Information Officer, said the hospital’s experience with TrakCare had given it confidence to commit to the new platform, and that IntelliCare would build on that foundation with more adaptive, AI-driven workflows.
