AlgoBharat, SEWA partner to launch digital health passport for female workers in India

Indian blockchain platform AlgoBharat and Lok Swasthya SEWA Trust, a national union of over 18 lakh women workers in India, have signed an MoU to jointly develop a blockchain-based digital health passport.

The initiative is designed to help SEWA’s members, women workers, by providing them with a secure and accessible way to manage their health records. It also aims to improve healthcare outcomes by providing providers with immediate access to the workers’ medical histories.

Blockchain’s security features will enable SEWA members to maintain control over their personal health information, safeguarding their data against unauthorised access and tampering. The solution is furthermore compliant with India’s new Personally Identifiable Information regulations.

SEWA will additionally be able to target its services to women workers and their families more effectively through gaining a macro perspective of the demographic details of the population it serves.
