Kazakhstan and South Korea explore digital health partnership

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry has held talks with South Korean healthcare technology firms on potential collaboration in medical AI and hospital digitalisation, as the Central Asian country looks to modernise its health infrastructure.

Gabidulla Ospankulov, Chairman of the Investment Committee of Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry, met with representatives of St. Mary’s International Hospital and South Korean companies Waycen and Meninblox to discuss opportunities for deploying digital health solutions in Kazakhstan, particularly in the West Kazakhstan region.

The discussions centred on innovations in healthcare digitalisation, with St. Mary’s International Hospital — which integrates emergency medicine, hospice and palliative care, and automation-driven clinical services — cited as a working model. Investment climate conditions, government support measures, and tax incentives were also on the agenda, alongside a proposal for a new multidisciplinary clinic.

Waycen develops AI-powered diagnostics and precision medicine platforms focused on oncology, covering multiple stages of cancer treatment. Meninblox specialises in large language models for clinical applications, with its flagship MediKoGPT platform trained on verified medical data and designed to streamline communication between doctors, patients, and health institutions.

The meeting reflects broader interest from Central Asian governments in attracting healthtech investment and partnerships as AI adoption in clinical settings accelerates across the region.
