Malaysia’s Ministry of Health has unveiled details of a healthtech hub aimed at streamlining the processes for healthtech development, assessment, adoption, and implementation in the nation.
Speaking at the i-Nation Global Summit 2024, organized by the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI), Deputy Minister of Health Dato’ Lukanisman Awang Sauni emphasised that the initiative seeks to ensure healthtech solutions are safe, effective, accessible, and innovative.
The Deputy Health Minister additionally introduced the first solution to be rolled out under the initiative. Developed in collaboration with QMed, Diabetic Retinopathy Inference with Multi Artificial Neural Network Technology Automation (Dr. MATA) is an AI system designed to detect and diagnose diabetic retinopathy, addressing a critical healthcare need in Malaysia.
Lukanisman was speaking as part of Malaysia HealthTech Innovation Connect 2024, co-hosted with MaHTAS, that focused on addressing healthcare challenges through innovation.The event showcased local healthtech solutions, promoting a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among healthcare innovators and stakeholders.
