M42 launches AI clinical platform across seven healthcare facilities in UAE and Bahrain

M42 has launched Ossi, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform designed to support clinical workflows and reduce administrative tasks, at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit on 22 October.

The platform has been activated across seven healthcare facilities in the UAE and Bahrain: Amana UAE, Amana Bahrain, Healthpoint, HealthPlus, Mubadala Health Dubai, Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital and Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi.

Developed using M42’s proprietary architecture and Microsoft Azure’s cloud and AI infrastructure, Ossi uses multiple AI agents to assist clinicians with documentation, patient record reviews, access to clinical information and medical coding.

The platform’s initial capabilities comprise four agents. The Ambient Scribe Agent transcribes clinical conversations and prepares draft clinical notes for review. The Health Record Agent retrieves and summarises relevant information from electronic medical records, while the Clinical Q&A Agent helps clinicians access clinical information and develop patient education materials. The Coding Agent suggests medical codes based on clinical documentation for review by relevant teams.

According to M42, Ossi is designed to give clinicians more time for direct patient interaction by reducing the time spent on administrative work. The company said the platform can integrate with existing electronic medical record systems using Health Level Seven (HL7) and Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards, as well as custom application programming interfaces (APIs).

Ossi is also described as model-agnostic and multilingual, allowing it to work with different large language models and accommodate multiple languages.

M42 said the platform was developed with a focus on health data security, privacy and compliance with regional data governance requirements, including regulations in the UAE.

The announcement did not include quantitative data on the platform’s impact on administrative workloads, clinician time or patient outcomes, nor did it disclose financial details of the launch.
