MedPlanner adds personalised health intelligence to AskHEMI app

MedPlanner Sdn Bhd,a Malaysia-based healthtech company, has launched an update to its AskHEMI app, adding two new features: Personalised Health Intelligence and Medication Reminders. The update is available now, free, for iOS and Android users.

The Personalised Health Intelligence feature allows AskHEMI to build a profile of each user’s conditions, medications, lab results, allergies and lifestyle, then draw on that profile when answering questions. Users can upload a lab report or prescription for the app to read automatically, or ask about the safety of a specific medication and receive a response based on their own health data rather than generic guidance.

The Medication Reminders feature lets users set a dosing schedule, receive timed reminders, and log doses as taken or skipped. Adherence is tracked over time through weekly and monthly charts.

The HEMI way: for whom the pager tolls

According to Dr Ezam Mat Ali, founder and chief executive of MedPlanner, the update means every response is grounded in the user’s own health profile. He said the addition of these capabilities distinguishes AskHEMI from other generic AI health apps on the market.

The app is built on MedPlanner’s HEMI (Health Medical Intelligence) engine, which combines multiple large language models with retrieval-augmented generation. Beyond text queries, AskHEMI accepts photos, such as images of a skin condition, and returns guidance on whether medical attention may be needed. The app supports multiple languages.

AskHEMI is free for casual use, with paid plans priced at USD3 a month for regular use and USD10 a month for heavier use. Dr Ezam said the app is intended to give patients a resource to turn to between clinic visits, when questions or medication needs arise outside consultation hours.
