Saudi Arabia advances precision medicine through PGxAI–Novo Genomics collaboration

Palo Alto–based PGxAI and Saudi Arabia’s Novo Genomics have announced a collaboration focused on supporting pharmacogenomics-based prescribing across the Kingdom. The initiative combines AI-supported genetic analysis with local laboratory processing to inform medication selection and dosing.

The partnership has established an end-to-end workflow that includes in-country sample processing, AI-assisted analysis, and clinician-ready reporting. According to the organisations, the approach is intended to reduce turnaround times, strengthen data governance, and support wider adoption of precision medicine within Saudi Arabia’s health system.

Participation in the programme is voluntary and based on patient consent, with results communicated in plain language to support clinical decision-making. The initiative places emphasis on medication safety, reducing adverse drug reactions, and improving access to pharmacogenomics-informed care. Educational activities for patients, clinicians, and families are also planned.

The collaboration aligns with PGxAI’s broader regional engagement with Najashi Holding, which focuses on localising advanced precision health technologies in support of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program. The partners plan to pursue training, technology transfer, and research initiatives aimed at building long-term local capabilities.

As the partnership progresses, the organisations intend to align on platform architecture, governance frameworks, and clinical pathways that could be deployed across healthcare institutions nationwide. The initiative is expected to support future research, enable role-based clinical decision support, and contribute to the development of Saudi-specific genomic insights.
