AQ healthcare AI app tops 140 million users as Ant Group rolls out new features

Ant Group‘s AI-powered healthcare app, AQ, has reached 140 million users since its launch in China in June 2025, the company announced at the INCLUSION · Conference on the Bund in Shanghai. Around 60% of its users are based in third-tier cities and below.

Alongside the milestone, Ant Group unveiled a series of updates aimed at improving healthcare access and supporting medical professionals.

A key addition is the launch of an AI Agent Development Platform, which allows doctors and medical institutions to create their own AI agents. These agents can assist with patient services and support community doctors. In one study involving 150 doctors and 1,000 patients, use of a Urology AI Agent developed with Shanghai’s Renji Hospital was linked to a 4% to 8% improvement in diagnostic accuracy among community doctors.

The app has also introduced new features for elderly users through a partnership with China Mobile. A dedicated hotline now enables seniors to access AQ services using voice commands on their mobile phones. Meanwhile, AQ’s personal health archive has been expanded to integrate a wider range of health data, wearable devices, and chronic disease management tools, consolidating information into a single, more user-friendly record.

Another update is the launch of an AI-powered skin disease recognition feature, which can identify more than 50 types of skin conditions from a photo and provide users with guidance on next steps.

AQ currently provides more than 100 AI-enabled services, including doctor recommendations, medical report analysis, and personalised health guidance. The app first began public testing in September 2024 before its full rollout the following year.
