Malaysian digital health company UCrest Berhad has been granted its first patent in Taiwan for its flagship product, iMedic™, an AI-powered digital health platform that supports remote healthcare delivery.
The newly granted patent covers AI-driven health management and telemedicine methodologies, protecting UCrest’s innovations in AI-powered diagnostics, personalised health analytics, and remote patient management. The move strengthens iMedic™’s position as a leading cross-border health platform connecting patients, doctors, and healthcare institutions.
Deployed across multiple markets in Asia and beyond, iMedic™ uses advanced AI algorithms to analyse medical data, assist doctors in diagnosis, and enable continuous remote monitoring. The platform helps hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers deliver care that is more efficient, personalised, and accessible to patients wherever they are.
At its core, iMedic™ integrates Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, and data analytics with a robust Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. This combination of technologies enables secure data exchange and predictive analytics to support preventive care and chronic disease management.
UCrest’s filing under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) gives the company a strategic gateway to pursue patent protection in more than 150 countries through a single international application. The framework allows UCrest additional time and flexibility to decide which markets to pursue, reduces translation and legal costs, and provides early feedback on the novelty and patentability of its technologies. It also strengthens UCrest’s global standing in technology licensing, commercialisation, and strategic partnerships.
“The patents strengthen our intellectual property assets and open new opportunities for global collaboration and licensing,” said Eg Kah Yee, Chairman and Managing Director of UCrest Berhad.
Over the past three years, UCrest has filed seven patents covering various aspects of its AI health technologies and platform architecture. These include two patents in the United States, two in Taiwan, one in China, one in Europe, and a global filing under the PCT.
In 2024, Malaysian dental clinic chain MDC Asia Link Berhad adopted AI and IoMT technologies using the iMedic platform as its Clinic Management System; StayOnline is leveraging iMedic to provide intelligent medical services to patients in sub-Saharan Africa and establish a Centre of Excellence for digital health in Rwanda; and Mediprima Healthcare has partnered with UCrest to digitalize clinics using IoMT.
