By Matthew Brady Vietnam’s Ministry of Health held a high-level review meeting on 6 April to assess progress across its digital transformation agenda, with a particular focus on the nationwide rollout of electronic medical records and electronic health books.
Chaired by Deputy Minister Nguyen Tri Thuc, the meeting brought together representatives from key departments, divisions, and the National Centre for Health Information to report on the status of assigned tasks under several government frameworks, including Plan No. 02-KH/BCĐTW, Resolution No. 214/NQ-CP, and Project No. 06.
Discussion at the meeting centred on the standardisation of a national prescription system and the integration of electronic medical records and health books into a unified digital infrastructure. Officials said that harmonising the storage, management, and sharing of prescription data across the country would represent a significant step towards a more coordinated national healthcare system.
The meeting also addressed progress under Resolution No. 66.7/2025/NQ-CP, which mandates the reduction and simplification of administrative procedures through greater use of digital data, including the replacement of paper-based document components with information drawn from national and specialist databases.
Closing the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Tri Thuc said the urgency of digital transformation in the health sector had grown significantly, citing the government’s broader economic targets — including maintaining double-digit growth and securing a top-three ranking for investment and business conditions in ASEAN.
