PureHealth, the UAE integrated healthcare group, has launched the Abu Dhabi Health Research Centre (ADHRC), a centralised clinical research division that brings together research activities across its hospitals, primary care clinics and laboratories in Abu Dhabi.
The centre consolidates clinical research operations across 16 hospitals, a network of primary care clinics and multiple advanced laboratories. It covers the full research lifecycle, including protocol design, patient recruitment, regulatory coordination, data analytics and scientific publication.
According to PureHealth, ADHRC currently supports more than 100 active clinical research studies, involving over 300 principal investigators and a scientific workforce of more than 700 researchers. The centre works with government entities, international biopharmaceutical companies and academic institutions, with research activity aligned to Abu Dhabi’s healthcare priorities.
ADHRC focuses on areas including personalised medicine, rare diseases and advanced healthcare technologies. Its infrastructure includes inpatient Clinical Trial Units (CTUs) and what PureHealth describes as the Middle East’s largest outpatient CTU, with capacity to manage more than 800 clinical trial participant visits per day.
The centre is supported by more than 2,500 specialists and consultants across disciplines such as artificial intelligence, precision medicine, oncology and neurology. Its research activities are intended to contribute to disease prevention, early diagnosis and long-term disease management.
PureHealth said ADHRC builds on its prior involvement in clinical studies that have included more than 100,000 participants. The centre applies advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, to analyse large datasets, support health trend prediction and identify potential therapeutic targets.
PureHealth is currently conducting clinical research across 22 therapeutic areas and contributes to more than 400 scientific publications annually. Among its ongoing projects is a longevity study described as the largest of its kind in the Middle East. The second phase of the study includes more than 3,000 participants and follows an earlier phase that reported improvements in healthspan through interventions related to exercise, nutrition and lifestyle.
PureHealth’s research activities have received grant funding from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, as well as recognition from the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention and DoH. The company said the Abu Dhabi Health Research Centre is intended to serve as a regional platform for clinical trials and medical research, supporting studies from initial design through to publication.
